Pot Mine
The German pot mine (Topfmine or Topf-Mi. 4531) was an anti-personnel mine that used two glass vials of acid as its triggering mechanism. When the vials were crushed a primer was ignited which in turn exploded the main charge.
The casings of these mines were constructed out of a variety of non-metallic substances, including a sawdust/tar combination, and soft coal/bitumen combination. Like the Shuh Mine, the pot mine was more difficult to detect because it did not use metal.

The pot mine was one of a number of mines encountered by Captain Miller and his Rangers in the days immediately following D-Day.
