Betty Boop
Betty Boop was a popular cartoon character from the 1930's designed by Grim Natwick. She is most often seen wearing a short, red, strapless dress.
Censors would later strip Betty of most of her sex appeal in order to comply with the Motion Picture Production Code (Hays Code), a restrictive set of rules created in 1930 and put into effect in 1934. The Hays Code resulted in a decline in the character's popularity until a revival in the 1980's brought Ms. Boop back into the public eye. The code was heavily revised in 1966 and eventually replaced by a rating system.
Notes
"Steamboat Willie", the German solider captured by Captain Miller's Ranger squad, makes reference to Betty Boop while trying to show that he has an appreciation of American culture.
